AIR Worldwide's Catastrophe Risk Engineering group received an Innovation Award from Business Insurance for its developments in catastrophe risk engineering solutions for supply chain risk.Business Insurance presents these awards annually to companies that show leadership and innovation in new products and services for professional risk managers.

Starting in 2010, natural catastrophes such as the Japanese tsunami and Thai floods demonstrated the disastrous effects events of this magnitude could have on supply chain networks. Following these events, AIR focused on researching the complexity of supply chain networks and developing a method to effectively quantify them. This method became an extension of its suite of Catastrophe Risk Engineering (CRE) solutions which helps quantify, mitigate, and manage the risk associated with the impact of catastrophes on supply chain networks. AIR's offering helps risk managers better assess and reduce their risk from catastrophic perils such as hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, and tsunamis.

AIR's proven CRE solutions have helped many companies to prepare for the consequences of earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and terrorist attacks. These firms need to be armed with a thorough understanding of the hazards involved, their likelihood of occurrence, and the unique vulnerabilities of their facilities and business operations.

AIR's President and CEO, Ming Lee accepted this award on behalf of AIR at the Innovations Awards luncheon held on Tuesday, March 5th in New York City.
